Cypress Creek Flood Control Coalition Sets Annual
Meeting
Residents of North Harris County are encouraged to attend the annual meeting of the Cypress Creek Flood Control Coalition (CCFCC) to be held at the Ponderosa Fire Station, 17061 Rolling Creek on March 15, 2006 at 7:30 PM. Raymond Anderson of the Harris County Permit Office and Andy Yung of Dodson & Associates will speak on “What is Happening in Your Neighborhood”. This will include information on new development, drainage, fill, erosion, preservation, detention ponds, storm sewers, public follow-up, and new flood plain maps.
Since Cypress Creek is adjacent to Westador, the information presented at this meeting should be of special interest to our residents.
On March 8 (the week preceding this meeting) Gordon Landwermeyer will discuss the drainage control changes in process in Westador. This discussion will be a part of the Senior Forum Potluck dinner at Cali clubhouse.
The 2006 residents’ directory will be printed in mid to late February 2006.
Additions to the directory master file, maintained by Bill Streidl, are furnished by Hays Utilities, the contractor that services Westador for the Westador Municipal Utility District.
Whenever Hays “turns the water on” for a residence, Bill is notified and the new resident is posted to the directory master file. The telephone number furnished by Hays is used, but it often is the resident’s number from their preceding address.
Residents who leave Westador do not always have the water service discontinued pending the sale or rental of their property. In addition, errors can occur when adjusting data in the master file.
Approximately 4 times a year, the master file is sent to residents by E-Mail. Unfortunately, only 200+ residents have furnished E-Mail addresses.
The accuracy of the master file depends on each resident. Residents can assure accuracy by reviewing the periodic printings, replying to telephone surveys, or just by calling Bill to check the data.

The Westador Citizens Emergency Response Team (WCERT) will conduct a free CPR class at the Cali clubhouse Saturday, March 4, 2006 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Cypress Creek Emergency Medical Service is providing trainers.
Call Richard Murphy to register. As of February 13, 2006, about a dozen persons have registered to be trained.

Westador Welcomes New Residents
On a monthly basis, Hays Utilities
(contractor for the Westador Municipal Utility District) provides Bill Streidl
with a listing of residences that have had their water turned on or off. The purpose of this list is to assist the
Civic Association in the maintenance of the Residents’ directory, the
electronic version of which is distributed quarterly. The process is not totally accurate for a variety of reasons.
The
most recent list follows and Westador welcomes these newcomers to our
subdivision. These new residents have
been reported by Hays covering the month of January 2006. Telephone numbers often are subject to
change since many new residents have the water turned on before move in and
their new telephone numbers have not yet been obtained. In any event, welcome to -

Some Homeowners Have Not
Paid Their Annual Maintenance Assessments for 2005 and Prior as of February 10,
2006
Homeowners who are delinquent on the annual maintenance fees incur interest, collection and legal fees, have lien notices filed on their property, and are prohibited from using common facilities such as the tennis courts, pools, and clubhouses. This month, four addresses were added where the homeowner had ceased making payments and one address was deleted where the homeowner had begun making payments.
The following list of addresses reflect only
those homeowners who have a Lien Notice filed on their property or are
delinquent for more than one year as of February 10, 2006.

Also, the Board has authorized stopping the
trash and garbage collection service for homeowners who are delinquent for more
than one year. If a delinquent
homeowner is making monthly payments in accordance with an arranged payment
plan, that homeowner’s address will not be listed and trash and garbage
collection service will not be suspended unless they cease to comply with the
arranged payment plan.
All homeowners who have not yet paid their maintenance fee are urged to do so promptly. The 2006 fee, which was due January 1, 2006, was sent to homeowners in mid November. Contact the Westador Accountant, Nelson Jones at 281-351-2010 to make payment arrangements.
The Westador Information Sheet is Printed Quarterly
The Westador information sheet is printed quarterly, or more often in
the event of some major changes. Of
special interest are the teen helpers anxious to baby-sit, cook, and to do yard
work while earning a buck or two in the process.
A new sheet is being distributed with this issue. Be sure to save the sheet and place by your telephone or inside your directory for quick reference.

Guidelines for Curbside Trash Service are Detailed by Jerry Butler
As always, bundles of tree branches, shrub and brush trimmings, or newspapers and magazines should be tied and neatly stacked, forming an easily handled package not exceeding 5 feet long or 50 pounds, and 18 inches in diameter. Our contractor has the right to not pick up your bundles unless they meet these requirements. Please note that such bundles and lawn clippings in bags will be left behind if not placed at curbside.
Please be aware that no items eligible for our existing curbside service should be placed there before 6 PM on Sunday and Wednesday nights. Please help your neighbors and Westador’s appearance by dealing with your lawn contractors to avoid grass clippings and other debris sitting at the curb for days.
We appreciate your support!
Call Billie Danner to report either a lost or found pet. Reunions are possible. Post the pet on WWW.LostAndFoundPets-Spring.Com.

Ponderosa
Volunteer Fire Department Round Up
The annual meeting of the Ponderosa
Volunteer Fire Association, Inc. (PVFA) will be held on March 14, 2006
beginning at 6 PM. The meeting is
located at Headquarters at 17061 Rolling Creek in the Ponderosa Subdivision.
We responded to a total of 1,379
emergencies in 2005. The gross number
doesn’t tell the whole story --- we are still seeing a significant number of
cooking fires, but the number of structure fires has decreased compared to
previous years (good news). Our
volunteer force is decreasing and we ask for you to consider joining our vital
community service agency. The next
recruit class begins on March 4, 2006.
Please call for further information.
Life Line
Screening® will be at Ponderosa VFD Headquarters at 17061 Rolling Creek in the
Ponderosa Subdivision on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. Pre-registration is
required, 1-800-324-1851. There is a charge for this service. The Ponderosa VFD
does not endorse this company’s service nor does it benefit by allowing the
company to utilize the PVFD facility.
This is an effort by the Ponderosa VFD to enhance our services to our
community. The screening will include
stroke screening, carotid artery abdominal aortic aneurysm screening,
peripheral arterial disease screening, and
osteoporosis screening
